The Oklahoma Media Center (OMC) recently welcomed a new member and secretary to the nonprofit’s Board of Directors.

KFOR-TV’s Kari King currently leads a dynamic team of content creators at KFOR.com, KFOR+ — the station’s OTT-CTV channel — and KFOR’s social media platforms. Her leadership drives innovation in digital storytelling, ensuring Oklahomans stay informed across every screen.

“Kari is a seasoned media professional whose career continues to elevate local journalism and community engagement across the state,” said Rob Collins, OMC executive director. “She has been a passionate member of the Oklahoma Media Center since its inception, helping shape the future of journalism in our state.”

A veteran of the media industry, King has contributed to several local outlets. Her career also includes time as a main anchor, executive producer and news director for a CBS affiliate and Telemundo in the Texas Panhandle, showcasing her versatility and commitment to journalism that reaches across demographics.

“When I first heard about OMC, I was extremely excited because an organization that brings together all types of media outlets to work together to strengthen our industry had simply never existed before,” said King. “Since it launched just a few years ago, its innovative programs and collaborative efforts have been making substantive contributions to the health of local journalism in Oklahoma, which is crucial for helping this state continue to prosper.”

Outside of the newsroom, King is active in the nonprofit sector, having served on the board of the Oklahoma Better Business Bureau and held multiple leadership roles with community organizations. She currently sits on the boards of the Edmond Women’s Club and Red Earth, a nonprofit that promotes Indigenous arts and culture.

In her downtime, King enjoys reading, cooking and spending quality time with her friends and family, including her beloved dog.

Also, board member Bianca Gordon recently was approved to be the new secretary of OMC’s Board of Directors. Gordon is associate executive director of Bridges, a Norman-based nonprofit that houses and serves high school students who are homeless due to no fault of their own. Gordon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from the University of Tulsa in 2000, and a Master of Arts degree in mass communication management (strategic communication) from the University of Oklahoma in 2014.

Gordon serves on the board of directors for the historic Norman Depot where she is chair of the marketing and development committee and is an appointed member of the Norman Public Library board. She is also an adjunct public relations research and writing professor at OU’s Gaylord College of Journalism & Mass Communication. A sixth-generation Oklahoman, Gordon is a descendent of the Choctaw Freedmen.

The Oklahoma Media Center’s mission is to support and strengthen Oklahoma’s local journalism ecosystem and spur innovation through statewide collaboration that benefits diverse audiences. A nonpartisan 501(c)(3), OMC includes more than 30 news outlets statewide, ranging from broadcast to nonprofit to Indigenous and Black-owned media outlets to longstanding newspapers.
