Job Description

The Oklahoma-based Program Coordinator will support the Executive Director to execute the mission of the Oklahoma Media Center. The nonpartisan 501(c)(3) charitable trust supports and strengthens Oklahoma’s local journalism ecosystem and spurs innovation through statewide collaboration that benefits diverse audiences. 

Essential Functions

  • Schedule board presentations and development meetings
  • Run and record Zoom meetings and take notes if necessary
  • Assist with the implementation of the Strategic Plan  
  • Support events and other committees, including taking meeting minutes and sending them to committee members in a timely manner
  • Create and maintain RSVP lists for OMC Board and group meetings, trainings and special events
  • Assist with event preparation, and attend events to assist in set up, implementation, and clean up
  • Serve as a resource to donors, nonprofits, and partners by sharing information, responding to questions and making connections
  • Assist in researching and tracking matching grant opportunities 
  • Support annual grant distribution process
  • Participate and contribute with development
  • Provide online and offline support for programs
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications and Skills

  • Understanding of and commitment to OMC’s core values, mission and vision
  • Excellent formal writing skills, with an ability to identify and appeal to diverse stakeholders — Spanish language fluency is a plus
  • Ability to coordinate complex projects with many diverse stakeholders
  • Impeccable organizational skills and an ability to move projects forward independently
  • Strong facilitation and learning design skills
  • Proven interest in community engagement and network building 
  • Ability to quickly learn about complex issues and prioritize information in a team environment 
  • Must be a team player with a low-ego approach to collaboration with both internal and external colleagues
  • With support, access to resources, and appropriate onboarding, you require little supervision to execute assigned tasks and are very comfortable with remote work
  • You are very comfortable asking questions when you’re unsure about something
  • You are a flexible thinker who can quickly adapt to new situations
  • 2-3 years of professional work experience in a nonprofit fundraising and development role
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal development, prospect research, and narrative grant reporting
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to fundraising teams securing five and six figure grants
  • Working knowledge of donor management systems, preferably Salesforce, and some background in data reporting and analysis
  • Background and education in development, communications, marketing, social sciences, or business
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to write on a deadline
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially as it relates to deadlines and time management
  • Ability to relate well to staff, donors, and board members and handle confidential information with discretion when necessary
  • An ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • A problem-solving mindset and passion for building things from the ground up
  • A sense of humor, creativity, flexibility and high standards in nonprofit excellence
  • Able to handle confidential donor information with sensitivity, integrity and accuracy
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to problem solve, manage details and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Experience in community-based nonprofit organizations, preferred

 Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Must be based in Oklahoma
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and minimal lifting of objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Minimal travel in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and surrounding areas
